  Mission Statement

Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba (SUDS) at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) is designed to help improve the lives of injured soldiers returning from Iraq & Afghanistan. By training the soldiers in a challenging & rewarding activity it can help facilitate the rehabilitation process & promote mobility. Offering this venue provides the soldier with a sport they can enjoy throughout their life. Operation Bottom Time is a SUDS fundraising event. It focuses on engaging the diving community in the ongoing support of newly certified SUDS divers through participation in the completion of the soldiers open water certification. SUDS is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization & a chapter of the Wounded Warrior / Disabled Sports Project.

Trip UpdateWe're back from SUDS-Operation Bottom Time Key Largo and we can report it was a fantastic success!! We have 7 new certified SDI open water divers and 2 new Advanced divers. Congratulations to Tim, Mike, Bruce, Greg, Kent, Chuck, Roy, Kevin and Luke. We had 5 days of fantastic weather and diving with Capt. Gary and Brenda Mace of Conch Republic Divers, and were able to have a really cool dolphin experience at Island Dolphin Care in the middle of the week. The food, diving and new friends made for a special week for the soldiers and marines and all the SUDS staff. We'll have some photos posted shortly, but check back often as we had so many people taking pix it'll be awhile before we get them all organized, and you can check the OBT threads at www.scubaboard.com for more pictures and stories from the trip. The SUDS staff would like to extend our deepest thanks to the crew at Conch Republic, Howard and Michelle Ehrenberg of Scuba Board for their help both above and below the water, Tom and Sue Kowalski for coming down and driving and teaching, and Kevin Morris, our adopted photo pro (and newly certified diver!) for some amazing shots that we'll link to as soon as they are available. Next stop, Puerto Rico in September. **Underwater photos taken by Howard Ehrenberg of ScubaBoard added to the photo gallery. Go check them out!!
